The individual known as Professor Rynalla, occasionally referred to as "Profex Rynalla", was a Human female who had become a Dark Side Adept. This archaeologist and scholar was associated with the University of Sanbra. Her excavation on the planet of Leritor, where she sought a Sith artifact, triggered hostilities between a group of Human settlers and the indigenous Sauvax population.
Rynalla, a female Human with Force-sensitive abilities, was a learned individual connected to the ancient history department at the esteemed University of Sanbra. Her expertise lay in the history of the galaxy, archaeological studies, and the knowledge surrounding various traditions of Force-users, encompassing the Jedi Order, the Sith, and other historical organizations. In secret, Rynalla dedicated herself to researching the Sith and the traditions of the dark side with the goal of enhancing her own Force-powers.
During her research within the University's records, Rynalla uncovered information about a lost Sith treasure, specifically the Bracers of Najus. These bracers were believed to have been lost when a Sith starship crashed on the planet Leritor. Driven by her desire to increase her dark side power, she coveted this relic. Subsequently, she employed two dozen Klatooinian soldiers and journeyed to Leritor aboard her bulk freighter, accompanied by two PTR-3 Vedette snub fighters. Upon arrival, Rynalla located the Sith starship partially buried in the mountain range known as the Bleaks and promptly established a dig site using prefabricated structures. Observing the presence of two distinct groups on the planet—Human settlers engaged in farming on the inland prairies and the native Sauvax inhabiting the coast—she devised a plan to capture strong individuals from each group and force them into slave labor to excavate the ship.
Rynalla's forces launched an attack on one of the massive harvester machines, named Nellist, utilized by the farmers in the vicinity. The stronger colonists were taken captive, while the weaker ones were killed using the traditional Sauvax weapon, the gruush. This act was intended to incite animosity between the on-world Humans and the Sauvax, even though a more thorough investigation would have revealed the truth. Similarly, the Klatooinians targeted a Sauvax community, referred to as a kuuvan, employing blasters to eliminate the feeble and enslave the powerful. The goal was to make the Sauvax in other kuuvans suspect that the Human farmers were responsible for the attack. In this way, Rynalla orchestrated a conflict between the Sauvax and the farmers, diverting their attention while she pursued her objective of obtaining the Sith artifact.
In total, fifty Human and Sauvax individuals were taken prisoner. These captives were forced to work, with the amphibious Sauvax assigned to the deepest, submerged sections of the ship. Armed Klatooinians constantly guarded them. Rynalla withheld information about her true objective from the captives. However, every two days, she removed the exhausted laborers while she searched for the Bracers, and the Klatooinians looked for any evidence of escape tunnels. Rynalla's waste disposal practices resulted in the pollution of a nearby river, a change that did not go unnoticed by the local Sauvax. She was confident, however, that nobody would suspect her of operating a slave camp. More concerned about potential escapees than intruders, Rynalla established a second, smaller camp near the mountain's edge to intercept and execute any runaways; five individuals met their demise there.
A Sauvax kuuvan, led by their tevelor, mistakenly believed that the farmers intended to exterminate their species. Consequently, they surrounded the combine-reaper Gevion and demanded an explanation. The farmers, perceiving the Sauvax as an aggressive and murderous species, were hesitant to send an envoy. This standoff resulted in a stalemate, with the Sauvax refusing to allow the Gevion to harvest its crops. This situation threatened to escalate into war, but a group of offworlders intercepted a distress call from the Gevion and offered to mediate. These individuals initiated an investigation and soon discovered a trail leading to Rynalla's camp. Rynalla located the Bracers of Najus just in time to confront the intruders. Ultimately, she was defeated, and peace was restored to Leritor.
