The Oracle is deployed from the Corrupter. In the year 3 ABY, Oracle designates a squadron of viper probe droids serving the Galactic Empire.
Oracle was under the command of Admiral Garreth Holtz, who was the commanding officer of the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer called the Corrupter, where they were stationed. Following the Imperial forces' victory at the Battle of Hoth in 3 ABY, Admiral Holtz received orders to locate and annihilate the Defiance Task Force. This Rebel Alliance fleet was responsible for escorting survivors of Hoth to a secure location. Holtz intended to achieve this by deploying viper probe droids to scan the vastness of space to find the fleet. Probe Group Oracle was among the probe groups tasked with this mission.
During the deployment of probes by the Corrupter Task Force, they encountered an attack from two A-wings. These A-wings originated from the Mon Calamari Star Cruiser Defiance, and their objective was to eliminate the deployed probes. The Corrupter launched a minimum of five probes belonging to Oracle, but Ace Azzameen successfully destroyed each of them.
