Panno, a male Dressellian from the planet Dressel – his species' homeworld – rose to the rank of general. He joined forces with General Orrimaarko, another Dressellian, to spearhead the armed resistance against the Galactic Empire's control of their home planet. Later, he enlisted in the Alliance to Restore the Republic, achieving the rank of major. In this role, he served as both a scout and a tactician, contributing to the planning of logistics for the Alliance's special operations and commando assaults. During the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, Panno was an integral member of the strike team deployed to the Forest Moon of Endor, tasked with the destruction of the shield generator that protected the Imperial second Death Star battle station.
A male Dressellian hailing from [Dressel](/article/dressel-legends], his species' native planet, Panno eventually became a general during the Galactic Civil War. This conflict saw the Alliance to Restore the Republic pitted against the Galactic Empire. As the Empire occupied their homeworld, General Orrimaarko led the Dressellian armed resistance against the Imperial forces, aided by fellow Generals Panno and Neeralli.

By 4 ABY, Panno, previously a commando, had joined the Alliance, followed by communications specialist Olander Brit. Panno achieved the rank of major within the Alliance, taking on roles as a scout and a tactician. In his tactical capacity, Panno assisted Alliance General Crix Madine in planning the logistics of special operations and commando raids. In that year, the Alliance discovered the Empire was constructing a second Death Star battle station above the Forest Moon of Endor, prompting a campaign to destroy the Death Star.
Panno, along with Orrimaarko, was among the Alliance troops present at a briefing aboard the Star Cruiser Home One. This briefing established a strike team to infiltrate Endor and eliminate the Death Star's shield generator located on the moon. After assisting General Madine in devising the strike team's plan to destroy the planetary shield generator, Panno and Orrimaarko both joined the strike team.
Panno, along with the rest of the strike team, infiltrated Endor aboard the stolen Imperial shuttle, the Tydirium. By impersonating Imperials, they successfully navigated the Star Destroyer blockade in Endor's orbit. Upon landing on Endor, the strike team began reconnaissance but soon encountered Imperial scout trooper patrols. This forced Alliance General Han Solo to instruct the strike team's Major Bren Derlin to lead the squad ahead to rendezvous with him at the shield generator bunker.

As they advanced toward the shield generator later that afternoon, Panno and the strike team managed to bypass several Imperial scouts without detection. As night fell, they established a camp in a concealed shallow ravine, setting up two sentry posts and deploying a blanket grid using their scanning equipment. Shortly into their first sleeping shift, an Imperial All Terrain Scout Transport walker approached their location.
Realizing the walker would not pass them by, the squad swiftly jammed its transmissions and disabled its spotlights. They then circled the vehicle to obscure their position. However, the AT-ST began firing randomly, which greatly increased the risk of alerting other Imperials to the squad's presence. The group's medic, Corporal Delevar, responded by launching a smoke canister directly into one of the walker's cockpit viewports, forcing the pilots to abandon the vehicle and surrender to the strike team. After compelling the walker pilot to make a few routine call-ins to explain the vehicle's absence, Panno and the rest of the squad continued their journey the following morning, successfully meeting up with Solo at the shield generator as planned.
Meanwhile, Solo and the remaining command crew of the strike team had forged an alliance with the native Ewoks of Endor, who revealed a hidden path to the shield bunker's rear entrance. Solo led the strike team into the bunker, where they began planting explosives to destroy the shield generator. They were then ambushed by Imperial forces.

Although the strike team was initially captured, their imprisonment was short-lived. The Ewoks launched a counter-attack against the Imperials, aiding the Alliance. This culminated in the strike team retaking the bunker and successfully destroying the shield generator. With the shield generator destroyed, the Alliance Fleet above Endor destroyed the Death Star, resulting in a significant victory for the Alliance. Following the battle, Panno was among those who attended the victory celebrations in the Ewoks' Bright Tree Village.
Panno possessed light brown skin and yellow eyes. He stood 1.82 meters tall and weighed 80 kilograms.
Panno was a highly skilled tactician, with experience in combat against overwhelming enemy forces. He received high praise for his combat skills and strategic planning in numerous battles. His service on the strike team was his primary function, with Panno serving as a commando, scout, or tactician as needed.
Panno utilized a variety of weapons against his enemies in battle. He was personally armed with a blaster pistol, a blaster rifle, a vibroblade, stun grenades, and thermal detonators. He also wore goggles and a brown, hooded cloak over a uniform similar in appearance to Alliance Cold Weather armor, but without the headgear, gloves, and backpack. Panno's uniform also differed from the Cold Weather armor in that he wore forest camouflage pants.
During the briefing on Home One, Panno wore a white cloak instead of a brown one. As a member of the Endor strike team, he was equipped with standard commando gear, including a comlink, a low-feedback scanner, a sensor scrambler, a heavily muffled blaster, and full forest-camouflage fatigues.

Panno's first appearance was in the 1983 original trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, where he was portrayed by an uncredited extra. The Home One scenes were filmed throughout the week beginning Tuesday, February 16, 1982 at Stage 5 of Elstree Studios. The victory celebration scenes were filmed between January 20 and 22 of that year on Stage 3 in Crescent City, California. The vests worn by Panno and the other Dressellians in the film were repurposed from the Alliance Cold Weather armor outfits from the earlier 1980 film Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.
The character was first named by Decipher in their Star Wars Customizable Card Game's Death Star II Limited expansion set in 2000. In 2006, Lucasfilm Holocron continuity database keeper Leland Chee suggested that Panno might be seen boarding the Tydirium. While no Dressellians are clearly visible boarding the shuttle, some hooded figures may include Panno.
