Due to its malfunctioning state, a Human mechanic by the name of Sparky was tasked with its repair, a mission at which he proved unsuccessful. He desperately looked to Dulac for help, who feigned fixing it, but took no action, as he secretly served as a forward operative for the Yuuzhan Vong fleet.
While manipulating the machine, the secret agent intercepted a transmission from the crew of the Pythea, which warned of the impending invasion. Nevertheless, he suppressed the information's release. The comm station was rendered inoperable during the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, thus severing communication between the planet and the New Republic. It is believed that the Yuuzhan Vong, with their aversion to mechanical technology, destroyed the machine during their occupation.
