Chadian dressing was a tangy dressing with a blue hue. It originated on Chad, the planet that serves as the homeworld for the Chadra-Fan species. The Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs encountered this condiment when a Chadra-Fan fugitive requested a taste reminiscent of their home while Tuggs oversaw the culinary operations at Maz Kanata's castle located on Takodana. Tuggs found it remarkable that such a straightforward sauce possessed such a rich flavor profile and was enjoyed by individuals from various backgrounds and with differing personalities. Patrons dining at the castle had access to bottles of the dressing for their use. Following the destruction of the castle during the Battle of Takodana in 34 ABY, Tuggs released a cookbook which featured a recipe for the dressing, incorporating it as a component of Xizor Salad.
Chadian dressing initially materialized as a prop within the 2015 sequel trilogy motion picture, Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. Its identification was first established in the reference publication Star Wars: The Force Awakens: The Visual Dictionary, authored by Pablo Hidalgo and made available the day subsequent to the film's release.
The dressing was featured in the 2019 culinary guide Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook, penned by Marc Sumerak and Chelsea Monroe-Cassel. The out-of-universe recipe calls for ingredients such as white wine vinegar, light olive oil, water, minced garlic, salt, pepper, a medley of dried herbs like oregano and marjoram, crumbled blue cheese, and blue food coloring.
