Patch-4, a planet in the Outer Rim territories, was characterized by its extensive covering of refuse. Orion Ferret, a notorious arms dealer and proprietor of the Bazarre black market space station, utilized it as a storage location for his precious goods. During the Galactic Civil War, Patch-4 unexpectedly provided refuge for a close-knit group of individuals displaced from their homes by the Galactic Empire. However, their existence was threatened by Ceasar, the formidable watchbeast that Ferret employed to safeguard his inventory.
Situated within the Patch system of the Outer Rim Cademimu sector, Patch-4 was a planet distinguished by its pervasive covering of waste and debris. This resulted in a strong, unpleasant odor that permeated the entire planet and created a viscous, jelly-like surface. The accumulated garbage on the planet formed both high peaks and deep valleys, and surface travel was hazardous due to the possibility of trash avalanches. The debris on Patch-4 largely consisted of machine components and the remnants of starships, which served as prominent landmarks amidst the surface's chaotic landscape. Despite its unhygienic condition, Patch-4 was capable of supporting a population of sentients, including Humans. During the Imperial Period, a band of "hoboes" managed to establish a living space within subterranean tunnels, constructing underground dwellings and maintaining their survival for a considerable duration.

By the time of the Galactic Civil War, Patch-4 had become a haven for a small, interconnected group of refugees who had been displaced by the actions of the Galactic Empire. These "hoboes" reached Patch-4 after hitching rides on freighters and enduring a difficult journey across the galaxy. However, their community faced a challenge around 3 ABY when Orion Ferret, the arms dealer who owned the black market station Bazarre, began utilizing Patch-4 to store his most valuable possessions. To protect these assets, he introduced a massive watchbeast known as Ceasar, and this fearsome, worm-like creature started to terrorize the local inhabitants, forcing them to seek shelter beneath the garbage-strewn surface.
In 3 ABY, Rebel leaders Lando Calrissian and Luke Skywalker made a visit to Patch-4 after arranging a transaction with Ferret for four TIE fighters, which he had hidden among the planet's refuse. Ferret, however, intended to sacrifice the Rebels to Ceasar, planning to reclaim the valuable merchandise for himself after their death. Calrissian and Skywalker, with the assistance of the "hoboes," successfully subdued Ceasar using a sonic pacifier, enabling them to secure their starfighters and restore the vagabonds' home.
Patch-4 was featured in Star Wars 59, which was written by David Michelinie, illustrated by Walter Simonson, and released during 1982.
