The military unit known as the Esselian defense force was responsible for the protection of the Core World of Esseles. Prior to his departure after the Imperial Senate was dissolved in 0 BBY, Tamizander Rey, an Esseles native, was a member of this defense force. Rey subsequently joined the Alliance to Restore the Republic and was stationed at the clandestine Echo Base on Hoth, where he fought in the Battle of Hoth.
