The E-2T medical shuttle, alternatively referred to as the E-2T medshuttle, served as a rapid ambulance vehicle utilized by the Galactic Empire for the purpose of evacuating injured pilots from active combat zones. A number of these vessels were positioned on the first Death Star. This shuttle possessed a restricted hyperdrive system and typically accommodated a crew of six individuals, alongside provisions for the transportation and care of an additional twelve patients of Human stature. Being unarmed and designated as a non-combat medical transport, it was generally considered a protected vessel, theoretically preventing attacks from both the Rebel Alliance and the Empire alike.
A particular shuttle, identified by the designation 5537, experienced a hijacking incident orchestrated by Imperial deserters Celot Ratua Dil, Memah Roothes, Kornell Divini, Villian Dance, and Teela Kaarz during their flight from the Death Star prior to its annihilation during the Battle of Yavin.
