Drabatan Saboteurs were soldiers of the Drabatan species who were amphibious, and served the Alliance to Restore the Republic. During the Galactic Civil War, they battled against the forces of the Galactic Empire. They were known as formidable commandos who would aggressively charge into battle, unleashing loud battle cries at the opposition. These saboteurs made use of boiler rifles together with sonic grenades to inflict tiny structural weaknesses in the defenses of their foes.
In the year 0 ABY, a rebel cell that originated from the planet of Tatooine, and was commanded by Colonel Jennica Pierce, trained Drabatan Saboteurs to fight against the Imperial forces of Captain Kosh. They were stationed on various planets, such as Tatooine, Er'Kit, Dandoran, Yavin 4, Sullust, Hoth, as well as Takodana.
The first appearance of Drabatan Saboteurs was in Star Wars: Commander, a mobile strategy game released in 2014 by Disney Interactive. The unit was added in the second content update on December 1, 2016, which was inspired by the Anthology Series film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which premiered on December 16 of that same year. Within the game, Drabatan Saboteurs functioned as bruiser units, available for training via the cantina to players who sided with the Rebel Alliance. Matthew Elser created the concept art for the Drabatan Saboteur, drawing inspiration from the Drabatan commando Paodok'Draba'Takat from Rogue One.
