Dorin Venithon

Dorin Venithon, one half of the infamous Venithon Twins, was an Ithorian pirate.

It is believed that Dorin, along with his brother Denuab Venithon, were born aboard an Ithorian Herdship as it journeyed through Corellian space. The twins' upbringing occurred in the harsh dockside slums of Corellia; it's likely their herdship either abandoned them or they were somehow lost.

Due to their difficult early lives, the Venithons developed values that sharply contrasted with typical Ithorian beliefs. They prioritized power and control, diverging from the Ithorian emphasis on peace and life. They experienced no remorse in depriving others of their possessions, dignity, or even their lives, which led them to choose a life of piracy.

Acquiring a Ghtroc freighter from an Elomin smuggler who had stolen it, complete with conveniently "lost" original documentation, they registered the Venithon Bandit under both of their names. Over the following years, they extensively modified the ship, using components pilfered from newer Ghtrocs. Only the original hull remained, but it was the sole vessel the Venithon Twins ever possessed.

Denuab, the more level-headed and educated of the pair, typically piloted the ship. Rather than engaging in combat, Denuab focused on bypassing security locks and returning to the Bandit, while his more aggressive brother handled the actual boarding actions. Dorin, taking pride in his boisterous (and two-mouthed) pirate persona, excelled in both melee and firefights, bearing numerous scars from his boarding exploits, including a plasma burn that ran from the right side of his lower leg to the parietal region of his head, where the neck curves toward the eyes.

The Venithons were affiliated with various pirate organizations, including the Kliap Pirates, the Bandits of Ggy-ynt, the Yarnak Gang, and the Fivaran Organization.

During their time with the Fivaran Organization, they participated in an operation alongside forty-six other pirates, attempting to seize the Hauler VI, a Censian-class transport. The Venithons discovered that the Hauler's cargo consisted of four hundred SpecForce Marines from the Rebel Alliance army. Choosing self-preservation, the Venithons abandoned their comrades to their fate of capture or death.

Eventually, they joined the Hy'thor pirate group, operating within the Mieru'kar sector under the command of Ompiach. While the Venithons officially served on the leadership council, which reported to Ompiach, they wielded considerable unofficial influence over the council's individual members.

In 2 ABY, Ompiach dispatched the Venithons as emissaries to negotiate a treaty between his group and the rival pirate faction led by Safonne Pendon. Despite their preference for raiding ships, they accepted the assignment. Regrettably, the meeting devolved into a violent conflict. During the ensuing crossfire, a Rebel freighter carrying valuable cargo sustained damage and crash-landed on a nearby planet. Eager to prove their worth, the Venithons and their associates pursued the freighter, intending to loot its contents.
