A concise aerial engagement took place in 137 ABY above the planet Dac. This dogfight involved Rogue Squadron, a unit of CF9 Crossfire starfighters from the Galactic Alliance Remnant, clashing with six Predator-class fighters belonging to Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire. Before this confrontation, the Rogues were conducting a reconnaissance mission over the Imperial-occupied world. The native Mon Calamari population was suffering from an ongoing genocide, initiated by the Empire earlier that year. During their patrol, Rogue Squadron observed millions of corpses floating on the water's surface, a result of deadly viral spores recently released into Dac's oceans.
The Predators detected the Rogues at that moment. Andurgo, a Rogue pilot, disregarded Rogue Leader Anj Dahl's orders to retreat, driven by rage over the committed speciecide, and engaged the Predators. Dahl then led the rest of the squadron to support him. Their Crossfires' guns swiftly laid waste to all six enemy fighters. Andurgo's fighter sustained minor damage. Dahl opted to ignore his insubordination, and the Rogues returned to the Galactic Alliance Core Fleet. They reported their findings to Alliance Admiral Gar Stazi, who then initiated a large-scale evacuation of Dac.
In the year 137 ABY, Darth Krayt—Dark Lord of the Sith and Emperor of the Galactic Empire—began a campaign of genocide against the Mon Calamari species as retribution for their support of the Galactic Alliance Remnant, an enemy to the Empire. Following the executing of 10% of the Mon Calamari, Imperial forces attempted to confine the remaining population in labor camps on their homeworld of Dac. The Galactic Alliance Remnant maintained surveillance on Imperial-occupied Dac, regularly deploying starfighter patrols for reconnaissance missions in the planet's atmosphere at certain times.
After usurping the Imperial throne from Darth Krayt, Darth Wyyrlok, the Sith Regent, decided to redirect Imperial resources away from Dac, but still wanted the Mon Calamari to be further punished. Consequently, he instructed Vul Isen, a Sith scientist, to release deadly viral spores into the planet's oceans. Isen's biological weapon spread throughout the water world, designed to kill all life on Dac within a week. Within 72 hours, millions of the planet's inhabitants perished, their bodies floating to the ocean surfaces.

Seventy-two hours after the release of the viral spores, Rogue Squadron, a unit of CF9 Crossfire starfighters belonging to the Galactic Alliance Remnant, arrived above Dac for a standard reconnaissance patrol. Ronto, designated Rogue Two, identified what he initially thought was a newly formed landmass on the planet's surface. However, Monia Gahan, another member of Rogue Squadron, recognized it as millions of corpses. Before the squadron could react, six Predator-class fighters of the Imperial Navy detected their presence and moved to engage.
Anj Dahl, the Rogue Leader, ordered her squadron to retreat and relay the intelligence to Alliance Admiral Gar Stazi. However, Andurgo, a Rogue pilot, overcome with fury at the Empire's mass slaughter, defied the order and broke formation to attack the Predators. After his fighter's lasers eliminated one enemy fighter, Dahl led the rest of the squadron into the fray, unwilling to abandon a fellow Rogue. Her guns destroyed another Predator, and the Rogues swiftly eliminated the remaining four. Andurgo's Crossfire sustained damage from enemy fire during the short dogfight, but remained operational enough to enter hyperspace. Dahl chose to disregard his insubordination due to the severity of the situation, and the Rogues jumped into hyperspace to evade Imperial reinforcements and report to the Admiral.
Upon returning to the Galactic Alliance Core Fleet, the Rogues informed Stazi about the poisoning of Dac. He decided to evacuate as many inhabitants as possible before the viral spores consumed the entire planet. News of the poisoning spread throughout the galaxy, and volunteer starships pledged themselves to the Alliance's cause. With assistance from the Jedi Order and the Mon Calamari Rangers, a local resistance group, Alliance forces attacked the remaining Imperials on Dac and in orbit. The Empire quickly withdrew, and a large-scale planetary evacuation commenced.
The aerial battle above Dac was depicted in the comic book Legacy (2006) 47. John Ostrander wrote the comic, Jan Duursema provided the pencils, and Dark Horse Comics published it on April 28, 2010.
