Darth Rictus

title: Darth Rictus

Darth Rictus functioned as a Dark Lord of the Sith and held membership within the Dark Council of the reconstituted Sith Empire. In his capacity as the leading figure of the Sphere of Mysteries, Rictus was recognized with the designation Keeper of Mysteries.

Biography

By the year 3640 BBY, Rictus stood as the Dark Council's most senior member, surpassing even the Darth Vowrawn, who was 76 years of age. This seniority gave his opinions substantial weight among the other Councilors. Despite his advanced age, he continued to be a formidable Sith and a highly skilled duelist, although he generally avoided direct physical confrontation. He also appeared to express a belief that non-human species were unsuitable for the Dark Council, questioning Darth Marr about potential fears regarding Karrid.

Following Darth Karrid's lethal actions against Darth Gravus in a bid to secure the Dark Council position previously held by Darth Hadra, Rictus adjusted his stance and voiced his support for Karrid, asserting that her actions were characteristic of a true Sith.

During the Dread Masters crisis, Rictus spearheaded the establishment of the Dread Executioners with the goal of eradicating the Dread Masters, whose operational headquarters had been located on Oricon.

Behind the scenes

The first mention of Darth Rictus occurred in the Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia, which served as a reference source for the BioWare video game Star Wars: The Old Republic and was released by Dorling Kindersley on October 15, 2012. Rictus is unique in that he is the only Council member featured in the Encyclopedia who does not make an appearance in Star Wars: The Old Republic, with the exception of Darth Aruk.

The quest "An Invitation From Darth Acina" within Star Wars: The Old Republic: Rise of the Hutt Cartel is internally identified in the game's files as "An Invitation From Darth Rictus."
