Coveway

Coveway, a planet in the Outer Rim Territories and situated within the Koradin sector, presented challenging conditions. It was colonized during the Galactic Empire's rule, and later became the residence of a Human named Jak Bremen. Bremen eventually became a constable in the village where he lived and started his family.

During the Galactic Civil War, the Empire secretly built a garrison on Coveway. The officer in charge of the garrison determined that the most effective way to complete his mission was to exterminate the local inhabitants. Consequently, Bremen's village was attacked and destroyed, resulting in the deaths of his wife and daughter. Bremen, who was away at the time, pursued the perpetrators to the garrison. He then assisted a newly arrived Rebel Alliance team in dismantling the Imperial base. In exchange, the Rebels transported Bremen away from Coveway, where he joined the Alliance.

Description

Coveway was a small, terrestrial planet found in the Coveway system, which is part of the Koradin sector within the Outer Rim Territories. Coveway's environment was unforgiving, and its wildlife posed a threat.

History

A new life

During the Galactic Civil War, the future New Republic Colonel Jak Bremen lived on Coveway.

During the Galactic Empire's era, Jak Bremen, a Human who survived an Imperial slaughter on Shiffrin in the Tammuz sector, wandered the Outer Rim Territories before finding a home in a village on Coveway. Bremen became the constable of the village, responsible for defending it against dangerous local creatures. Eventually, he married a local woman and they had a baby daughter.

Sometime during the Galactic Civil War, an Imperial garrison was established on Coveway for a mission assigned by the Empire's Commission for the Preservation of the New Order. The commander of the garrison came to the conclusion that the Empire's mission would be more quickly accomplished by eliminating the local population, including the inhabitants of Bremen's village. One day, while Bremen was away hunting, soldiers from the garrison attacked and destroyed the constable's village, murdering his wife and child.

Retribution

Upon his return to the village, Bremen tracked the killers back to the garrison. Realizing he couldn't exact revenge alone, he fled and found refuge in another village. There, the former constable encountered a Rebel Alliance agent who was part of a Rebel strike team that had recently arrived on Coveway with the goal of destroying the Imperial garrison.

After being introduced to the team, Bremen offered to guide the Rebels through the Imperial base's defenses. The strike team agreed to take Bremen off-world afterward. With Bremen's assistance, the Rebels successfully destroyed the garrison. Bremen then joined the Alliance and later became a colonel in the Alliance's successor organization, the New Republic.

Inhabitants

Coveway was populated by resilient individuals who descended from an early colonization effort and managed to survive despite the challenging environment of their home planet. At some point, an Imperial garrison was also stationed on the planet.

Locations

Coveway was home to two small villages. During the Galactic Empire's reign, a secret Imperial garrison was established on the planet.

Behind the scenes

Coveway was first referenced in the 1994 publication The Last Command Sourcebook, written by Eric Trautmann for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas located the Coveway system, and consequently the planet, in grid square I-18.
