Corps

The term "corps" served to identify particular subgroups inside a military organization. The Imperial Army employed a variety of corps for its specialized branches, such as the Imperial Armor Corps and its subset, the Imperial Artillery Corps. Additionally, the Imperial Army maintained a combat driver corps, an Imperial Vehicle Corps, the Army Air Corps, the Army Engineering Corps, and the Stormtrooper Corps. Within the Stormtrooper Corps, the term "corps" denoted various stormtrooper divisions, like the range corps and the scout trooper corps. Similarly, the Grand Army of the Republic previously utilized the flame trooper corps and Ranger Corps.

The Imperial Navy also incorporated corps into its administrative structure, including the logistics corps. The First Order Navy maintained a Transport Corps. The term extended to non-military entities like the Imperial Survey Corps. A Starfighter Corps represented a complete military unit for starfighters, bombers, and similar light vehicles. Various militaries utilized Officer corps for their officers, such as the Imperial Officer Corps and the Imperial Navy's officer corps, as well as the rebel officer corps.

A substantial military formation used in surface battles was the corps. Within the Grand Army of the Republic, a corps comprised 36,864 clone troopers, commanded by a Clone Marshal Commander and a Jedi General. Each corps was further divided into sixteen smaller units known as regiments, each under the leadership of a Clone Commander. During the First Battle of Geonosis, the Republic deployed eight corps of troopers to the planet. The Imperial Army continued to employ corps within their forces, as exemplified by the 21st Nova Corps and the 91st Mobile Reconnaissance Corps. The First Order also utilized corps in their military forces, with an army corps consisting of 36,000 stormtroopers.
