A male bounty hunter known as Coar Maw plied his trade in the latter years of the Galactic Republic. During the Clone Wars, Maw journeyed to the Cularin system. There, the Dark Jedi Raik Muun engaged his services to stall a team of freelance agents whose interference threatened her plot to assault the Luxury liner. Maw's initial tactic involved using a deceptive audio recording to misdirect the agents, followed by an ambush executed on the planet Cularin itself.
In the twilight years of the Galactic Republic, Coar Maw, a male individual, earned his living as a bounty hunter. Affiliated with the Bounty Hunters' Guild, he ventured to the Cularin system in the Expansion Region during the Clone Wars. While relatively new to the system, Maw received a proposition from the Dark Jedi Raik Muun. Muun, concealing her true appearance behind a holoprojection that made her appear as a scarred female Ithorian, contacted the bounty hunter. Muun sought to impede the Heroes of Cularin, a group of freelance agents operating within the system, from disrupting her scheme to attack a conference held aboard the Luxury liner. She tasked Maw with delaying them. Despite recognizing the deceptive nature of the holoprojection, Maw accepted the assignment, receiving payment in dataries to his account.
Jedi Master Lanius Qel-Bertuk had summoned the Heroes of Cularin to a Jedi enclave situated in the city of Gadrin on the planet of Cularin. Maw devised a plan to ambush them en route. He attempted to create a diversion for the agents by broadcasting an audio recording of an apparent assault from a device planted in an alleyway. Subsequently, he prepared to launch his attack from atop a stolen swoop, intending to facilitate a swift escape.
Maw selected his initial target and initiated the ambush. After a brief time engaging the heroes in combat, he accelerated away on his swoop across the rooftops of Gardrin. Soon after, Office of Peace and Security officers arrived at the scene and began to pursue him.
A proficient bounty hunter, Maw adhered to a strict code of confidentiality, never divulging details regarding contracts accepted from employers. His chest, arms, and face were swathed in bandages due to a debilitating skin condition that caused him intense pain. This constant agony, however, fueled his determination to apprehend his targets, as he dedicated the majority of his earnings towards finding a cure for his ailment.
For protection, Maw donned a blast vest and a helmet. He was armed with a N'Gant-Zarvel 9118 heavy carbine, stun grenades, and a knife. He also carried stun cuffs and a datapad containing comprehensive reports on each of the Heroes of Cularin, along with documentation verifying his membership in the Bounty Hunters' Guild.
Matthew Domville conceived Coar Maw for Force Convention, the third scenario within the Forces of Cularin trilogy of the Living Force campaign, a supplement for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game. Within the scenario, the spelling of Maw's first name varies between "Caor" and "Coar." This article assumes "Coar" to be the correct spelling due to its more frequent usage.
The player characters' actions, who roleplay as the Heroes of Cularin, can influence the outcome of their encounter with Maw in Force Convention. If only one player enters the alley where Maw has placed the audio recording, the hunter fires upon them with his blaster. However, if multiple players enter the alley, Maw throws a stun grenade before opening fire. Subsequently, Maw escapes on his swoop unless the players manage to disable the vehicle or track him down. Should the player characters capture Maw, he refuses to cooperate and only reveals information about his employer under duress, through the use of Force techniques, or through very intense interrogation. Following Maw's attack, members of the Office of Peace and Security arrive, taking custody of Maw if he was captured, or pursuing him if he escaped. If the OPS take custody of Maw, the player characters can attempt to persuade the officers to grant them additional minutes to question the bounty hunter before his departure.
