Clan Markona was the name given to the community of people residing on Hubin, where Thane Markona and his daughter Tula made their home.
Following the Galactic Empire's establishment and the death of his parents, Markona departed from Hubin and initiated a mercenary enterprise. Eventually, Markona encountered a field technician, married her, and they had a daughter named Tula. After his wife passed away, Markona discovered a message from her, urging him to pursue a better existence for himself, Tula, and the clan. As the clan's members aged, they collectively decided to retire. They consented to undertake a final mission for the Empire, which involved gathering data from a secure location. Upon successful completion of their task, the Empire granted the clan Hubin as their exclusive property, with Markona recognized as their Thane. Clan Markona committed to paying tithes to the Empire to ensure their isolation, as Hubin was deemed insignificant.
After the Rebel Alliance's devastating defeat at the Mako-Ta Space Docks, Markona came to the rescue of Princess Leia Organa, Captain Han Solo, and Commander Luke Skywalker from a thanrax. They were escorted to Thane Markona's Estate. Markona and his clan's tracking skills enabled them to deter the thanrax pack from approaching the village. Following their hospitality towards Organa's team, Markona and Tula showed Skywalker around the village and his family's burial ground. Subsequently, Markona and Luke engaged in combat with a group of thanrax. Working together, they successfully repelled the thanrax from the village. Later, the clan witnessed a shootout between Solo and one of their members. Once Solo stunned his adversary, the clan ceased their hostility.
Subsequently, Markona extended a welcome to Sergeant Kreel and his SCAR squadron at his estate. Despite Markona's denial of the rebels' presence, SCAR Squadron verified their presence through the interrogation of their prisoner, Sana Starros. As SCAR Squadron and Organa's team prepared for a confrontation, Markona instructed his daughter to stun Solo and Organa. Markona threatened to summon the remainder of the clan unless Kreel agreed to a duel with Skywalker. Both Kreel and Skywalker agreed to the terms. Following Skywalker's escape from the duel, Markona consented to assist the SCAR troopers in tracking Skywalker. During this time, Tula stunned Aero, liberated Starros, and revived Solo and Organa. As Tula and the others departed, MK-1 activated the alarm to assemble the clan. Makona then battled SCAR Squadron until he met his demise.
Tula, along with the clan and Organa's team, commandeered SCAR squadron's shuttle and departed from the moon, with the clan resolving to align themselves with the Rebel Alliance. The clan and Organa's team journeyed to the Imperial Impound Yard on Novka, where they reclaimed Starros' Volt Cobra and a YT-2400 light freighter. Subsequently, they proceeded to Brentaal IV, and after the rebels conferred with Qensog, Skywalker informed them that they could unite with General Hera Syndulla aboard the Geist.
