Clan Cadera was a Mandalorian clan that existed during the era of the Great Galactic War and the subsequent Cold War, a period of tension between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire.
When the Mandalorians, then under the command of Mand'alor Mandalore the Vindicated, chose to ally themselves with the Sith against the Republic, a member of Clan Cadera named Jicoln Cadera voiced his opposition. He argued that the Mandalorians should emulate Mandalore the Preserver's actions and support the Republic, just as he had done ages prior. This ideological clash resulted in the Crusader's schism, with Jicoln raising a military force of followers to challenge the Mand'alor. However, this movement was ultimately crushed, and Jicoln was widely presumed to have perished in the aftermath, though he actually escaped into banishment. The remaining members of Clan Cadera, mostly females and young offspring, were permitted to rejoin Mandalorian society.
However, Jicoln's actions caused Clan Cadera to be viewed with disgrace within the Mandalorian community. His son, Torian Cadera, felt deep shame because of his parent, and his comrades called him names like arue'tal, meaning "traitor's blood." When Torian learned that his father was still alive and residing on the world of Taris, he teamed up with the reigning Grand Champion of the Great Hunt—a galactic-scale reward hunting competition organized by the Mandalorian clans—to locate and eliminate Jicoln. Together with the champion, Torian fought his disgraced father in a Mandalorian death game called a Geroya be Haran, and they were victorious. However, when Jicoln recognized Torian as his long-lost son, he asked for a private moment to explain his choices before meeting his end. After Jicoln was killed, his body was handed over to a group of Mandalorian troops to be delivered to Mandalore the Vindicated. Torian, having erased the shame Clan Cadera had carried in the eyes of other Mandalorians by killing his father, decided to join the bounty hunter crew of the Grand Champion, seeking new challenges.
By the time of the war against Zakuul, the clan's numbers had dwindled significantly. Only Torian Cadera answered Mandalore the Avenger's summons to Darvannis, becoming her chief scout and the new leader of Clan Cadera.
Clan Cadera was first introduced into Star Wars canon in the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic, developed by BioWare and launched on December 20, 2011.
