Celanon City

Celanon City, a vast urban area, stretched across nearly 200 square kilometers. Serving as the capital city for the planet of Celanon, it was a key commerce center situated within the Outer Rim. Its population exceeded fifty million individuals from various species, with only ten million being permanent inhabitants, including two million indigenous Nalroni. The Celanon Merchant Guild Medical Facility, the primary hospital connected to the starport, was located within Celanon City. An IOCI office, staffed by Sergeant Mulvek Gra, was also present. The city exhibited stark contrasts, featuring both affluent and impoverished districts. Annually, trillions of kilograms of merchandise transited through Celanon City. Inhabitants of Celanon were referred to as Celanites.

Characteristics

The city's rapid population growth resulted in its expansion to the boundaries established by its founding charter. Consequently, architects prioritized vertical construction to accommodate the demand for office, warehouse, commercial, and retail spaces. The city streets remained perpetually congested. While daytime hours were typically dedicated to business, the numerous nightclubs, street vendors, and restaurants scattered throughout the city maintained a vibrant atmosphere around the clock. The city's layout was approximately circular, segmented into distinct zones such as the spaceport, diplomatic quarter, spacers' district, transient residences, trade consortiums and guilds, Imperial military installations, market area, corporate sector, and governmental zone. A massive, ten-meter-high wall encircled the city's perimeter, regulating access. Only Nalroni or specially authorized guests under Nalroni supervision were permitted passage through designated gates. A fee of two credits was levied for each passage. The Nalroni restricted visitors from venturing into the countryside, limiting access to farms to the gates on the city's outer edges.

Spaceport

The spaceport area stood out as the city's most prominent sector, housing numerous docking bays for small freighters, bulk freighters, and shuttles. Continuous renovations and expansions over the years accommodated the increasing volume of business. Within the spaceport's structural framework were cantinas, starship repair and modification shops, small cargo companies, and other businesses catering to the needs of spacers. While these establishments were pricier than those in other parts of the city, their convenience offset the cost of traveling elsewhere. As the primary point of entry to Celanon City, the spaceport was always a hub of activity. Upon arrival, visitors were prompted to choose between "economy" or "trader" docking bays, with experienced traders often opting for the latter. An economy bay cost 150 credits per local day (considered expensive), with standard maintenance and restocking costing roughly 150% more than at other spaceports. Refueling costs were consistent with other locations, but repair and overhaul expenses were up to five times higher than average. Trader bays had a base cost of 250 credits per local day, but offered standard-priced maintenance and restocking, and were less susceptible to surprise contraband inspections. Alongside legitimate traders and crew members, petty criminals and smugglers frequented the district's streets and alleys. The spaceport also housed the massive Celanon Spaceport Control building, which had nearly 140 stories. This building not only managed air traffic control, but also contained the planet's customs offices. Like many modern Imperial cities, the spaceport suffered from overcrowding, inflated prices, and crime. Visitors also encountered numerous Nalroni traders, guild inspectors, and security personnel, as well as regular Imperial patrols. While the Imperials primarily maintained order, the Nalroni were vigilant in ensuring that the trading guilds received their "fair percentage" of business conducted within the city.

Diplomatic Section

Modern buildings representing diverse architectural styles characterized the diplomatic section. This area housed the headquarters of planetary governments and major corporations. Daily transactions in the billions of credits occurred as worlds sought suppliers of droids, blasters, food, computer equipment, or repulsor vehicles, while others aimed to maximize profits from their goods. Representatives from corporations and governments constantly strived for prominence and recognition. Fashion and attitude reached excessive levels, with frequent social events for young executives to showcase themselves. Luxury airspeeder were ubiquitous, and individuals sported the latest galactic fashions. Imperial troops maintained a watchful presence, intervening on behalf of "important people" in disputes. Street-level businesses comprised shops, restaurants, clothing stores, luxury goods retailers, and service industries catering to the affluent.

Spacer's Section

Similar to the spaceport but less expensive and more dangerous, the spacer's section featured open-air markets filling streets and alleys, offering goods of questionable origin, ranging from blasters to used starships. Small trade companies, often contacted by others seeking anonymous cargo transport, were also prevalent. Many of these companies were Nalroni-run or owned, resulting in unfavorable or dishonest deals. Individuals seeking off-world transport frequented this area, as did bounty hunters and hired guns. Laborers willing to work for passage to other worlds were also common.

Transient Residences

Occupying a significant portion of the city's eastern sector, these neighborhoods were typically overcrowded and costly. While not particularly dangerous in terms of street crime, they provided an ideal setting for individuals seeking to "disappear." Consequently, criminals evading the law, Imperial draft dodgers, disgruntled corporate employees, and others with secrets often found refuge in these neighborhoods.

Trade Consortium and Guild Buildings

The Trade Consortium buildings were one of the few areas where the native Nalroni outnumbered aliens. The trade guild buildings were sprawling, ornate complexes. Everything was garishly decorated with sculptures, holo-art, and treasures of every description. Luxury airspeeders were everywhere, and richly dressed Nalroni merchants, with assistants to attend to every desire, were constantly on the go.

Imperial Military Facilities

The Imperial Military Facilities constituted the most restricted area within the city. Enclosed by five-meter-tall walls, this sector contained spaceport facilities, troop barracks, ammunition depots, armories, and administrative buildings for the Empire. Five full army battle groups were permanently stationed within the city.

Market District

The Market District catered to small traders and merchants, facilitating the sale of small quantities of goods to speculators and consumers for resale on other worlds. This area was known for illegally modified weapons, illicit spice cargoes, inexpensive droid replacement parts, vehicles, and other items. Similar to the spacer's section, the market district attracted shady characters, undercover Imperial agents, and Alliance cells.

Corporate Zone

This sector housed the rank-and-file employees of various corporations. Corporate offices in this area managed the routing of goods and maintained corporate intelligence networks. Smaller corporations, unable to afford space in the diplomatic sector, established their headquarters here. The area was relatively safe, with a moderate Imperial presence. Nalroni influence was evident in the observation and direction of trade, making it an excellent location for securing long-term freight contracts.

Governing Zone

The governing zone was the central location for petty bureaucrats and the place where individuals reported offensive behavior to the relevant institutions.
