Broga Masrii, more widely recognized as Broga the Hutt, was a Hutt who held the position of leader for the Three Families during the period known as the Cold War. During the time of the Quesh war, Broga, along with fellow clan leaders Portho Kaltemmic and Jeelta Urdosh, found themselves compelled to align with the Galactic Republic against both the Sith Empire and the Hutt Cartel. Tragically, Portho and Jeelta, in conjunction with Broga's protector, Master Berin Fraal, met their death at the hands of Imperial forces commanded by Moff Dracen; however, Broga was spared and collaborated with them in an effort to save his own life. Nevertheless, he swiftly rejoined the Republic, prompting Dracen to initiate a siege on the Hutt's palace, ultimately resulting in its capture.
Broga was eventually taken prisoner by Lord Magras and forced into servitude for the Empire once again, but the Republic eventually rescued him.
Broga made his initial appearance in the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic, which was launched by BioWare in 2011. He is a central figure in both the Imperial and Republic narratives on the planet, serving as an antagonist to the Sith Empire during the "Quesh Showdown" event and as an ally to the Republic throughout their storyline. While there exists an option to eliminate Broga within the Imperial storyline, the Hutt is shown alive and well in the Republic storyline, despite the latter occurring after the former. This suggests that the canonical choice was to spare Broga, even though dark side choices are presented as the default for Imperial characters, automatically being chosen should content involving them be skipped.
Imperial players, after defeating Berin Fraal, are presented with a choice: they can either spare Broga to gain light side alignment points or eliminate him to gain dark side alignment points. Regardless of the decision made, Broga's appearance in the Republic storyline remains consistent, indicating that sparing him is the canonical option.
