Located on Drall, the Boiling Sea was a relatively small, enclosed body of water. Its name stemmed from the fact that it steamed and bubbled during the summer. This effect was caused by a large bloom of algae, rather than just summer heat. This algae, known as kettleweed, emitted gas bubbles upon its death. These algae blooms served as a food source for the native ibbots. The shores of the Boiling Sea became a well-known tourist destination for the Drall, ultimately leading to a profitable off-world tourism industry. This industry included resorts, health spas like the Luminous Gardens, hiking expeditions, and camping sites. To the north of the sea lay the region of Mastigophorous, which was governed by the Duchess Marcha.
