The Biitu system was a star system situated within the Outer Rim of the galaxy. More specifically, it was found in the Tadrin subsector of the Cassander sector. This system was known to house a minimum of two planets, one of which was Biitu, the original homeworld of the Biituian species, a sentient race.
An early, unnamed version of the Biitu system made its debut in "The Great Heep," a television movie. This movie was part of the Star Wars: Droids: The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO animated series, initially broadcast on June 7, 1986. The system received its official identification in The Essential Atlas, a reference work authored by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace. Published on August 18, 2009, this atlas located the system within grid square K-5.
