The conflict known as the Battle of Yerej involved combatants from both the Alliance to Restore the Republic and the Galactic Empire. This space engagement occurred when the Meteor, a Nebulon-B frigate, and its complement of snubfighters initiated an assault against the Imperial factory Drekker, which was a crystal-manufacturing facility located within the Yerej system.
In response to the attack on the space factory, the Victory-class Star Destroyer Inexorable was mobilized. It launched TIE/sa bombers with the intention of attacking the Meteor, as well as TIE/IN interceptors to provide an escort for the strike force as they entered the Yerej system. The Drekker factory also deployed its own defensive fighter screen, which consisted of two complete flight groups of TIE/LN starfighters. Anticipating potential difficulties, the Imperial forces had a contingency plan in place: should the battle begin to favor the Rebels, two flight groups of Delta-class DX-9 stormtrooper transports were prepared to enter the fray and launch proton torpedoes at the Meteor.
Due to players having the option to participate in the "Attack on Imperial Factory Drekker" mission within the Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter computer game, playing as either the Rebel or Imperial faction, the objectives for each side are in conflict. Furthermore, because achieving victory is not a requirement to progress to the subsequent set of missions, the battle itself is considered canon, however, the definitive outcome within the canon is currently unknown.
The starships referenced in this article are those that appear in the Operation: Quick Strike battle, utilizing the default starships assigned to the player. The "Attack on Imperial Factory Drekker" standalone combat engagement is essentially the same, except for the starships involved, which could include Assault Gunboats, TIE Avengers, X-wings, and Y-wings.
