During the time of the Galactic Civil War, in 3 ABY, the 61st Mobile Infantry of the Alliance to Restore the Republic engaged in a battle with Imperial forces. This clash occurred in the mountainous terrain of the planet Naator, situated within the Mid Rim region. This particular fight was a component of the 61st's larger strategic initiative, Operation Ringbreaker. The goal of this operation was to target less fortified Imperial holdings, with the intent of compelling the military of the Empire to reallocate resources away from the heavily defended Kuat Drive Yards, thus creating a vulnerability for a subsequent assault. Although the 61st emerged victorious from the battle, they suffered some losses during this confrontation and the subsequent battle on the planet Xagobah. Ultimately, Operation Ringbreaker was not fully accomplished by the rebel unit.

The 61st Mobile Infantry of the Alliance to Restore the Republic launched Operation Ringbreaker in 3 ABY amidst the Galactic Civil War against the Galactic Empire. The campaign, conceived by former Imperial Governor Everi Chalis, aimed to strike at the Empire's Kuat Drive Yards. These shipyards, located on the planet Kuat, served as the primary hub for the construction and maintenance of the Empire's Star Destroyers. To degrade the defenses of these shipyards, the 61st planned to attack a series of less-defended Imperial sites, forcing the military to divert forces from Kuat. The planet Naator, located within the Mid Rim Territories, was included among the targets of this operation due to its contributions to the Empire's war efforts. General Crix Madine mentioned the planet in a report regarding the first phase of Operation Ringbreaker, which was reviewed by the Rebel Alliance Intelligence Service.
Following their attack on the agriworld Nakadia, the 61st proceeded to Naator. They engaged Imperial forces in the icy mountains of the planet, ultimately securing a victory. However, this battle, along with the subsequent engagement at the astronomical object Xagobah, resulted in casualties for the rebel unit.
Despite the success of the campaign in prompting a redistribution of forces from the Kuat Drive Yards, the 61st was unable to reach Kuat, abandoning Operation Ringbreaker after being ambushed by the Empire on the planet Sullust. The reports from Alliance Intelligence regarding the campaign, including the one referencing Naator, were later archived by archivist Hendri Underholt in a compilation of non-electronic documents known as The Rebel Files.
The battle of Naator was initially referenced within Alexander Freed's 2015 novel, Battlefront: Twilight Company.
