Battle of Lianna

The Battle of Lianna, a conflict that transpired on the world of Lianna amidst the tumultuous Clone Wars, witnessed a costly victory. Jedi Master Cei Vookto's demise was the price paid on Lianna, ultimately costing him his life.

Context

As Jedi Knights and Masters were summoned to command segments of the Grand Army of the Republic, Master Vookto promptly concluded his assignment in the Outer Rim Territories to assume the role of a Jedi General. On Lianna, he led his clone troopers into battle, defending a Sienar Fleet Systems starfighter production facility against invading Separatist forces. Given that Raith Sienar's engineers were developing advanced starfighters for the Republic Navy, the Republic deemed the planet strategically indispensable.

The Conflict

The battle unfolded fiercely across Lianna, resulting in significant casualties on both sides. Leading the campaign, Master Vookto employed his elemental manipulation abilities, utilizing twin pillars of water and fire to purify the planet. The strain this exertion placed on Cei Vookto ultimately led to his death.

Subsequent Events

Following the secured victory and the protection of the Sienar facility, a memorial service was conducted for the fallen Master Vookto. His cremation took place in a funeral temple on Lianna, attended by Yoda, Mace Windu, Tholme, Quinlan Vos, Ki-Adi-Mundi, his former padawan, Dama Montalvo, and several clone troopers. Upon his death, command of his remaining forces was transferred to Ki-Adi-Mundi.

After the funeral proceedings, Yoda and Mace Windu received a report from Tholme and Quinlan Vos concerning dissenting Jedi who had opted not to participate in the Clone Wars. These dissidents, led by Sora Bulq, had congregated on Ruul at Bulq's deteriorating ancestral estate. They consented to a meeting but requested the presence of a Council member authorized to represent the entire body, specifically Mace Windu, who agreed to attend.

During the report's presentation, Windu and Quinlan Vos engaged in a sparring session. Nearing the end of their mock duel, Windu urged Vos not to restrain himself. Vos responded by executing an aggressive maneuver that Windu recognized as a Vaapad technique, prompting him to swiftly conclude the session. When questioned, Vos attributed the maneuver to Sora Bulq's teachings during his retraining, though Bulq made no mention of Vaapad.

Prior to Windu's departure for Ruul, Yoda advised him to perceive Bulq with a 'child's eye', devoid of preconceived notions. Windu agreed to meditate on this counsel.
