The Battle of Kes unfolded in the Kes system of the Core Worlds' region, dating back to 16,921 BBY. This system was strategically positioned along the hyperlane called the Axis, linking the Coruscant and Alsakan systems.
Occurring during the First Alsakan Conflict, which marked the initial phase of a series of conflicts spanning fourteen millennia over political dominance within the Galactic Republic between its capital world Coruscant, the planet Alsakan, and their respective allies, the Battle of Kes took place amidst hyperspace minefields that filled the space between Coruscant and Alsakan, approximately one hundred years into the war. This battle holds the distinction of being the sole direct clash between the opposing forces of the two warring systems during the early stages of the Alsakan Conflicts. The result of the engagement was a tactical stalemate, and the First Alsakan Conflict continued onward for over two centuries.
The 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare, penned by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart, first introduced the Battle of Kes.
