Battle of Kalist VI

A significant conflict unfolded at Kalist VI following the Jabiim subjugation. This was a rescue mission orchestrated by the Rebels to free the mathematician Jorin Sol.

Skirmish in Space

The Galactic Empire's tanker, known as the Nuna's Twins, came under fire from Red Squadron's X-wing starfighters of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, spearheaded by Wedge Antilles and aided by a Recusant-class light destroyer. A contingent of TIE fighters attempted to repel the assault, but suffered considerable losses. The unexpected entrance of the Acclamator-class slave ship carrying Jabiimi rebels, led by Janek Sunber from the Jabiim conflict, forced the X-wings and the Rebel Destroyer to withdraw.

It turned out that the Rebel attack was a ruse to allow a team of Rebel intelligence soldiers, under the command of Luke Skywalker, to infiltrate the freighter.

Covert Operation

Skywalker, using the alias Jundland, facilitated the landing of a team disguised as stormtroopers. Upon gaining entry to the base, the intel team eliminated an entire stormtrooper platoon. After clearing the area of the fallen, the team assumed their identities as "replacements".

During the covert operation, Deena Shan leaked information about an Alliance base located on Thila. However, the base was actually abandoned and rigged with explosive traps. In the subsequent ambush, the entire stormtrooper team was eliminated. To Deena's despair, her lover, Captain Kale Roshuir, had led the team there, though he survived.

Luke Skywalker encountered his childhood friend, Janek Sunber.

The Alliance intel team discovered that Jorin Sol was not the only captive at the facility; Basso uncovered a number of Jabiimi rebels, prompting the Alliance to undertake a rescue mission for them as well.

A Duros Rebel Intel trooper, known as Mouse, was tasked with planting explosives throughout the base. Following an encounter with Imperial forces, he was exposed as a spy and pursued through the facility's corridors. He successfully planted the final mine before being fatally shot.

After nearly dying at the Ambush at Thila, Roshiur reported back to base that rebel operatives had infiltrated the base. During a conversation with Sunber, Luke was identified as one of the operatives after the explosives set by Mouse detonated. Luke was forced to knock his former friend unconscious.

Aerial Assault

Y-wings decimate the Imperial detention center.

With the Imperial personnel being evacuated along with Jorin Sol, Red Squadron received the signal and began supporting the Y-wings, which bombarded the installation from above. Luke Skywalker ordered the Alliance Cruiser to completely bombard the base as it was already being destroyed. As the base was being destroyed, Luke Skywalker and the intel team released the Jabiimi prisoners. As the Rebels and Jabiimi continued to board an Acclamator-class slave ship. Sunber, in a final attempt to prevent the rebels from escaping, confronted Luke and attempted to shoot him. Using his lightsaber, Luke deflected the bolt back and wounded Janek's shoulder, giving the slaves and Jorin Sol a chance to board the transport. As the rebel operatives escaped in the Nuna's Twins and the Acclamator, Sunber stood thinking—he lost both his friends, Luke and Biggs Darklighter, to the Rebellion.

Immediate Consequences

The Imperial reinforcements, which were desperately needed, arrived several days too late. The Imperials then began the process of reconstructing the installation after its near-total destruction. Sunber received bacta treatment to heal his injuries. Jorin Sol's rescue was successful, making the operation a victory for the rebellion.

However, while Sol was being tortured, a chip was implanted in his brain. This chip programmed him as an Imperial spy, tasking him with the destruction of the Alliance Fleet from within.
