The clash known as the Battle of Jandoon involved a minor conflict within the Corva sector, pitting forces of the Galactic Empire against those of the New Republic.
Within the Corva Sector, agents belonging to New Republic Intelligence picked up whispers regarding ancient technology located on the world of Jandoon. However, while transmitting this discovery to their superiors, Imperial spies managed to intercept the message. Eager to secure any potential finds on the planet for their own purposes, and anticipating the New Republic's investigation, the Empire swiftly deployed a small fleet to the desolate world. They left a Lambda-class shuttle and a modified Z-95 Headhunter in orbit as bait, while concealing two Guardian-class light cruisers and three scout ships amidst Jandoon's twin moons.
As predicted, a Republic flotilla consisting of freighters and scientific ships, escorted by two X-wings and an A-wing, soon warped into the system from their base on the gas giant Galaan. Mistaking the shuttle and fighter for easy prey, the Republic vessels moved to engage, at which moment the Imperial forces sprung their trap. Before the Republic forces could adequately respond to the sudden threat, the Imperials had obliterated two freighters and a science vessel. They proceeded to overwhelm the Republic forces, destroying a significant number of the science vessels before the remaining ships retreated from the system.
This particular battle was used to illustrate the mechanics of space combat within the West End Games roleplaying game. Consequently, there were no specific details provided regarding the exact date of the battle, or whether the Empire ultimately located the ancient technology in question.
