Battle of Drongar

The conflict known as the Battle of Drongar, alternatively referred to as the Jasserak Engagement, transpired during the period of the Clone Wars. The planet Drongar held no significant strategic military value; rather, both the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems sought control over its primary export, the substance called bota. For a duration exceeding one year, as of the 24th month following the Battle of Geonosis, the opposing factions engaged in combat for control of this planet, employing weaponry such as slugthrowers, swords, and staffs to minimize damage to the valuable plants.

The battle

Approximately seven months following the Battle of Geonosis, Republic military forces were in desperate need of additional personnel and supplies. The Acclamator-class assault ship designated VCD987 was dispatched carrying a newly formed contingent of clone troopers along with Jedi Knights including Tsui Choi, Sian Jeisel, and Kai Justiss. During its voyage, the Republic vessel was caught in an ambush orchestrated by Quarren Separatists who were loyal to Count Dooku. With the ship's propulsion systems rendered inoperable, Dooku and Sora Bulq spearheaded a boarding operation with the Quarren soldiers. Following the capture of the Jedi, Bulq received directives to eliminate the remaining clone troopers, thereby preventing reinforcements from reaching Drongar.

Simultaneously, on the planet's surface, Jedi Commander Barriss Offee provided assistance to a compact medical unit, successfully saving numerous lives amidst the ongoing conflict. Ultimately, the sheer numerical advantage of the droid forces led to the withdrawal of Republic troops from the planet (a decision influenced by the Separatists' use of saturation bombing, which effectively destroyed the majority of the bota crop). Nevertheless, the Republic managed to secure approximately two metric tons of bota, and they eventually received support from the Venator-class Star Destroyer named Resolution, which compelled the droid armies to initiate a retreat.
