Battle of Dathomir (Hunt for Zsinj)

The Battle of Dathomir, alternatively referred to as the Battle of Singing Mountain, pitted an alliance of the Singing Mountain Clan, the New Republic, and the Hapes Consortium against Zsinj's Empire and their allies, the Nightsisters. The ultimate outcome of this conflict was the demise of both Warlord Zsinj, the most formidable of the warlords active after the Battle of Endor, and Gethzerion, who led the Nightsisters.

The Battle

Leading up to the confrontation, Zsinj issued a demand to the Nightsisters: surrender Han Solo, or face the activation of the planet-devastating orbital nightcloak, a device capable of transforming the entire planet into a frozen wasteland. Upon discovering the failure of the Nightsisters' assault on the Singing Mountain Clan, Zsinj, expressing his disappointment, initiated the nightcloak to pressure Gethzerion into cooperating.

Darkness enveloped the skies, and the planet's temperature plummeted drastically. Subsequently, the Nightsister conceded to capturing Solo, but she also requested a ship to leave Dathomir. The witches formulated a plan to journey into New Republic territory and instigate secession in support of the ruthless warlord. In exchange, Zsinj pledged to dispatch two shuttles: an armed transport for Han Solo and an unarmed transport for the Nightsisters.

Following Solo's capture, he was transported to the Imperial prison just as Zsinj's transports arrived. However, Gethzerion betrayed Zsinj and eliminated all the Imperials. Han Solo was rescued by the opportune arrival of the Millennium Falcon, with Luke Skywalker simultaneously controlling all of its crew stations utilizing the Force. However, Gethzerion and her followers managed to escape aboard the armed shuttle. Luke pursued them relentlessly, using radio communication jamming to attract the attention of Zsinj's Star Destroyers, leading to the shuttle's destruction.

Despite Gethzerion's death, the orbital nightcloak remained active, and Zsinj's fleet blockaded the planet. Nevertheless, the Millennium Falcon successfully deactivated the nightcloak, and the Hapan fleet arrived to confront the Super Star Destroyer Iron Fist and the other ships belonging to Zsinj's Empire. During the engagement, the Hapans destroyed the orbital nightcloak and strategically placed pulse mass mines in the surrounding space to prevent the Imperials from escaping into hyperspace. This tactic was perilous, as it trapped both the attacker and the target in real space for a short duration. The Falcon successfully breached the shields and destroyed the bridge of the Iron Fist, resulting in the death of the warlord and effectively eliminating a significant threat to the New Republic.
