The clash known as the Battle of Acherin transpired in the months that directly followed the conclusion of the Clone Wars.
The origins of the conflict lie in the aftermath of a rescue operation. After saving a Republic Jedi General from being executed by his own forces, the Acherin Separatist leaders swiftly understood that the newly formed Galactic Empire presented a far more significant danger compared to the former Galactic Republic.
The people of Acherin, reorganizing their Separatist forces into a resistance movement, engaged the Empire in a fierce and costly battle, resulting in substantial casualties on both sides. In an effort to minimize casualties, the Empire employed single-pilot Compact Assault Vehicles controlled by droids. As the planet neared complete subjugation, Imperial Admiral Riwwel rejected the Acherin request for a truce, instead commanding the bombardment of Eluthan, the capital city of Acherin, as retribution for the losses suffered by his troops. The timely intervention of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ferus Olin proved crucial in saving the lives of resistance leaders Toma and Raina Quill. While the resistance leaders escaped, the Empire destroyed the city and asserted control over the planet.
