Biography

Apprenticeship

Barrison shortly before his knighthood

Prior to his induction into the Jedi Order, Barrison worked as a financier, establishing the Draay Trust, a powerful organization intended to benefit non-Jedi members of the Draay family. He maintained close friendships with Haazen, his family's steward and fellow Padawan under Master Arca Jeth, and Alok Adasca, the leader of Adascorp. Despite doubts from many, he successfully managed both his Jedi training and his responsibilities with the company and its employees.

During their time as apprentices, Haazen repeatedly attempted, but failed, to capture a Nautolan smuggler named Dossa. On one occasion, Dossa caused a pillar to collapse towards Haazen, but Barrison intervened, using the Force to hold the pillar aloft and allowing Haazen to escape. Additionally, they befriended Krynda Hulis, a student of Vodo-Siosk Baas. Both Haazen and Barrison developed feelings for Krynda, but she only returned Barrison's affections.

Eventually, Arca Jeth knighted both Barrison and Krynda, expressing satisfaction that his initial reservations about Barrison had been proven unfounded. Haazen interrupted the ceremony, questioning why he had not received knighthood. Master Jeth explained that Haazen's lack of self-discipline and reliance on his friends' achievements, rather than developing his own skills, had led to his failure as a Jedi. After Haazen angrily confronted Master Jeth and departed, Barrison followed him. Haazen accused Barrison of using his wealth to secure both knighthood and Krynda's affections. Barrison responded by punching Haazen, a decision he quickly regretted. He assured Haazen that he would not interfere with the Order's decision but would seek a way for Haazen to continue serving.

The Sith War

Barrison facilitated Haazen's continued involvement by making him his assistant.

Barrison distinguished himself as a formidable Jedi warrior and achieved victory in the Battle of Toprawa during the Great Sith War. Throughout the war, Haazen's role involved identifying and separating bodies of allies and enemies. Following the Battle of Toprawa, Dossa, now aligned with the Sith, approached Haazen and offered to fulfill any desire. Haazen expressed his longing for Barrison's life, including his wealth, Krynda, and everything he possessed. Dossa then orchestrated a plan, leading Barrison and his Jedi company into the Ansharii Caverns under the false pretense of a hidden Sith base. Dossa detonated an explosive device, resulting in the deaths of all present except Haazen, who sustained severe injuries, including the loss of his right eye, arm, and legs.

Despite his combat prowess, Barrison lacked the precognitive abilities possessed by his wife. She later attributed his death to this deficiency in foresight. Years after his demise, Haazen remarked that his son, Lucien, shared similar limitations.

Legacy

Barrison's death deeply affected Krynda, leading to overwhelming grief and guilt for her failure to foresee the Sith War. After dedicating years to training new students, she eventually established a Covenant committed to preventing the rise of the Sith at all costs. Unbeknownst to her, Haazen was secretly manipulating events from behind the scenes.

Zayne Carrick, Lucien's former Padawan, and Lucien engaged in a duel before Barrison's statue. The statue, damaged by orbital bombardment, collapsed onto Lucien. Zayne seized the opportunity to impale the vulnerable Jedi. However, this was a ploy to gain Haazen's trust and access to his gauntlet, which Zayne severed. Lucien declared that his father would have never tolerated Haazen's actions and used Haazen's dismembered mechanical hand to redirect Republic fire onto the Estate. Despite losing his eyesight, Lucien survived. He later established a True Covenant on a secluded moon he had purchased, merging his parents' beliefs and acknowledging that while prophecies cannot be altered, they can at least be endured as Jedi.
