Subsequently, a massive group of 2,000 civilians launched an attack on the isolated elite army unit, outnumbering them 50 to 1, and ultimately defeating them. Colmar sustained a serious head injury and was abandoned. After regaining consciousness, Colmar wandered aimlessly, reflecting on the battle and the course of his life. Recognizing the Empire's failure to safeguard its populace, he switched his allegiance to the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
