As a Human female, Ashii Nermani was an employee of Imperial HoloVision, a news organization that the Galactic Empire sometimes used for propaganda. By 0 ABY, during the Galactic Civil War where the Empire was battling the Alliance to Restore the Republic, she had risen to become one of their most well-known newscasters. During that time, specifically that year, Nermani was the first to report that Venslas Beeli was a privateer working for the Alliance. This report focused on the attacks carried out by a group of Alliance pirates and terrorists, led by Captain Beeli, against civilians within the Core Worlds' Ringali Shell. In reality, the Solar Terrors, a captured pirate group, were coerced by the Imperials into committing these acts, with the intent of luring out the Far Orbit, an Alliance privateering frigate. In the same broadcast, Nermani concealed the capture_of_coh_veshiv of Imperial Advisor Coh Veshiv by the Far Orbit, instead informing the public that the advisor had died when his shuttle was struck by an errant asteroid.
