Aris was a male Human who pledged allegiance to the Believers, a Sith cult, during the final years of the Galactic Republic. Circa 21 BBY, Aris joined a Believer contingent on Tilnes, a moon, at a clandestine Metatheran Cartel base, a trade organization, to scrutinize the effects of an experimental virus released there by the cult. The group found themselves trapped within the Cartel's facility and were set upon by Ko Bas, a mutant Caarite, leaving only Aris and Osia alive from the Believer team. Three hours later, Aris and Osia launched a surprise attack on a squad of freelance agents who had entered the Cartel installation, but they were ultimately overcome.
Aris, a Force-sensitive male Human, resided during the concluding decades of the Galactic Republic and became a member of the Believers, a Sith-worshipping cult operating within the Cularin system. Approximately 21 BBY, Aris became entangled in a Believer scheme to engineer a novel virus designed to be fatal to the Caarite species. A couple of weeks following a deliberate release of the virus inside a base belonging to the Caarite-dominated Metatheran Cartel trade syndicate on the moon Tilnes, the cult resolved to assess the triumph of their experiment. Aris was among six Believers chosen for this task, directed to convene at a bar within the floating city Tolea Biqua on the planet Genarius. He received only the essential mission details, remaining uninformed about crucial aspects, including how to relay their discoveries and the Believers' intention to wipe out the Caarites through the virus.
The Believer team journeyed to Tilnes aboard a starship and proceeded to the Cartel base, situated deep beneath the lunar surface within a network of tunnels. Just as Aris and his companions arrived at the facility, an electromagnetic pulse from Tilnes' core triggered the base's security protocols, sealing the entrance and trapping the Believers. Soon, the cultists were ambushed by Ko Bas, a Caarite transformed by the virus into a gigantic, enraged mutant, resulting in the deaths of four members, leaving Aris and Osia as the sole survivors.
Seeking refuge, Aris and Osia discovered a hidden security office and took cover inside. They encountered two more mutated Caarites, G and U, whom they subdued using the Force to control their minds and by communicating in the Caarite native language. The two Believers then tried to circumvent the base's security system to escape the Cartel facility, but their efforts proved futile.
Three hours after the Believers' arrival, a group of freelance agents reached the facility, investigating a distress signal triggered by the electromagnetic pulse that sealed the base. Their arrival caught the cultists off guard, and Aris and Osia observed from a distance as the agents fought and defeated Ko Bas, also discovering an active sample of the anti-Caarite virus. Determined to keep the virus's existence a secret, Aris and Osia positioned themselves near the Cartel base's entrance, planning to ambush the agents as they attempted to leave.
The Believers revealed themselves to the freelance agents, with Osia offering safe passage in exchange for the recovered virus specimen. The agents refused, prompting Aris and Osia to attack, commanding U and G to kill the freelancers. However, the agents prevailed, defeating the two cultists and departing with the viral sample.
A dedicated Believer, Aris believed in the imminent doom of the cult's enemies. As was customary for Believers, he bore a tattoo of the spire of the Sith fortress on Almas on his right shoulder.
Aris was skilled in Force usage, enabling him to sense his surroundings, move objects telekinetically, perform mind tricks, enhance his physical abilities, and heal himself and others. He was bilingual, fluent in both Basic and Caarite.
During his mission on Tilnes, Aris wore a respirator for protection against the experimental virus. He also had a blast helmet and blast vest, wielding a stun baton and blaster pistol.
Aris was featured in Caaried Away, a roleplaying adventure by Morrie Mullins within Star Wars Legends continuity. Released in March 2003, it served as the initial part of the Metatheran Caution trilogy in RPGA's Living Force campaign.
In the adventure, players assume the roles of the freelance agents who encounter Aris at the Cartel base on Tilnes, with various possible outcomes. If the player characters comply with Osia's demand to surrender the anti-Caarite virus sample, the Believers honor their word and allow the agents to leave unhindered. Aris and Osia then exit the facility through separate tunnels, heading to the Believer team's starship to depart Tilnes. Refusal to hand over the virus leads to a fight with the Believers, where Aris can be defeated and killed.
Should the player characters lose the fight and become incapacitated, Aris and Osia seize the virus sample, departing with the mutant Caarites U and G, leaving the agents alive as they were not ordered to kill non-Caarites. If captured, Aris attempts to strangle himself with the Force, though this suicide attempt can be prevented by knocking him out or using a mind trick. The player characters can then attempt to coerce Aris into revealing all he knows about the virus and the Believers' mission to Tilnes.
