During 0 BBY, Cobb Sonbepol, a Gotal, used Antarian in a conversation with Momaw Nadon, an Ithorian, and Trinto Duaba, a Stennes Shifter, inside Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina situated in the Mos Eisley spaceport located on the planet Tatooine.
The original trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope from 1977, marked the initial appearance of Antarian. Its identification as Antarian occurred in the "Every Language in Star Wars" video, launched in 2019 as a component of the Star Wars By the Numbers series featured on the Star Wars Kids YouTube channel. The name was initially implemented within the Star Wars Legends continuity, debuting in the 1998 reference book The Essential Guide to Planets and Moons penned by Daniel Wallace.
