A strike team of Jedi was assembled following a communication received by the Jedi Order in 990 BBY. The message alerted the Jedi to the presence of a severely wounded Sith Lord located on the planet of Ambria.
The Jedi Master [Tho'natu], a Twi'lek, led the strike team. This team consisted of five additional Jedi Masters and eight Jedi Knights. They journeyed to Ambria aboard the Jedi cruiser named Light of Truth. Upon arrival, they discovered the disfigured body of Caleb, a healer, whose name was mentioned in the received message. Tho'natu announced the team's arrival outside of Caleb's dwelling, stating their intention to provide assistance. However, they were immediately attacked by Darovit, a former Padawan. Tho'natu and the other Jedi quickly overwhelmed and killed Darovit. Tho'natu noted that Darovit wielded the lightsaber of the recently deceased Jedi Lord Valenthyne Farfalla and was also missing a hand. Mistakenly identifying Darovit as the injured Sith Lord they were searching for, they transported Caleb's remains back to Coruscant for a proper burial, believing the Sith threat to be eliminated.
However, the strike team was unaware that Darth Zannah had orchestrated the message as part of an arrangement to have Caleb heal her Master, Darth Bane. Bane had sustained severe injuries during a recent duel on Tython. Once her Master was healed, Zannah murdered Caleb and driven Darovit to insanity, manipulating him into attacking the Jedi upon their arrival. Simultaneously, she had hidden herself and her Master within a concealed trapdoor inside Caleb's hut. This allowed them to evade the Jedi, ensuring the Sith's survival remained a secret.
