The ancient shrine known as the Altar of Evil, situated on the planet Naboo, was so named by the explorer Tinrilo x'Rilsam. It had been erected at a vergence point saturated with the dark side of the Force. Anyone who approached the altar could immediately sense its palpable and unnatural malevolence. The shrine's construction consisted of a sizable stone, encircled by three sculptures, and adorned with a skull positioned above an inscription written in Aurebesh. During the [Galactic Civil War](/article/galactic_civil_war/legends], a Lesser Prophet of the Dark Side dedicated a significant portion of his time to meditation at the Altar of Evil. Tinrilo x'Rilsam came across the altar while he was exploring Naboo, around the time of the Battle of Yavin. However, the explorer, intimidated by the altar's dark presence and the dark prophet, made the decision to halt his exploration at that point.
The Altar of Evil existed as a location within the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game that Sony Online Entertainment developed and LucasArts published. The game was shut down on December 15, 2011. On Naboo, the Altar of Evil was just one of many unmarked locations of interest. After the 2004 release of the Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed expansion, data storage unit devices, which were rare, could sometimes be looted from space battles. One such item, a data storage unit labeled "an Explorer's Log (2/8)," provided a detailed background story concerning the Dark Prophet and the Altar of Evil.
The Aurebesh inscription visible at the altar translated to "House Signs".
