Akin-Dower, a manufacturer of mining tools, thrived circa 4000 BBY. Situated within the Corellian system, the company operated as a division of Corellia StarDrive. Among Akin-Dower's creations was the Groundborer, a machine intended to expedite the creation of underground passages and rooms for fledgling colonies. To safeguard its mining equipment shipments to the Frontier, which later became known as the Mid Rim, the company employed freelance protectors.
