Abin-Ral-Xufush was a heartless and ingenious Tiss'shar merchant who shifted his focus to acts of piracy.
Leading the pirate group known as the Shadow Wing (also referred to as the Dark Wing), Abin-Ral-Xufush patrolled the Perlemian Trade Route and other significant hyperspace lanes, preying on any vessel he could locate. Harboring a deep-seated animosity towards Humans, he demonstrated a heightened likelihood of targeting worlds with a Human majority, roughly 15% more often.
However, Abin's prejudice was only directed at his targets; all members of the Shadow Wing were treated without bias, irrespective of their species or homeworld. Seldom did he induct new members without first scrutinizing their reliability and benefit to the organization, initially assessing them with simple tasks, progressively increasing in difficulty until Abin was convinced of their value. He had zero tolerance for disobedient or treacherous crew, and maintained a strictly governed vessel. His crew held his leadership abilities and tactical brilliance in high regard, and displayed unwavering allegiance to him.
Abin funneled all proceeds from his raids directly back into the Shadow Wing; combat-ready vessels were integrated into the fleet, other ships were broken down for spare parts, captives were pressed into service, and acquired goods were rarely sold, instead being utilized to sustain the ships and crews. He amassed a fleet capable of invading and plundering entire planets, arriving like a plague, employing overwhelming power to seize what it desired, and then vanishing.
The Galactic Empire formally accused Abin-Ral-Xufush of piracy, evading Imperial justice, and sedition. A galaxy-wide reward of 300,000 credits was placed on his head, a rare distinction for a non-political criminal during the Galactic Civil War.
Abin-Ral-Xufush was a merciless and effective commander characterized by a sharp intellect, tactical acumen, and a pronounced anti-human sentiment. Functioning as a predator, he pursued any prey he could find, showing no favoritism in target selection except for a tendency to attack human-dominated planets more frequently than those of other species, though this could be attributed to the population distribution of human worlds. His prejudice against humans did not influence his recruitment and promotion practices within the Shadow Wing, where all individuals were treated equitably regardless of species or homeworld. He enforced strict discipline on his ship, and had no tolerance for either disobedience or treachery; his methods of maintaining order across his extensive fleet and numerous captains were shrouded in mystery, as were his ultimate objectives in assembling the Shadow Wing.
During the Galactic Civil War between the Empire and Rebel Alliance, Abin was in his early thirties. He bore a red diamond pattern on his back and white scales on his underside, a characteristic marking of the sil-ar lineage of Tiss'shar.
Abin typically wore a green baldric, and always carried a datapad, a comlink, and a BlasTech StarSlasher blaster carbine. His vessel, the Fa-Loh-Sui, was a Corellian Engineering Corporation corvette considered to be the pride of his fleet; it had been seized from a Rebel command post in the Outer Rim Territories. Abin named it in honor of a beautiful Tiss'shar assassin of the same name whom he had once courted.
