A. Rahring, a Kel Dor xenobiologist, was a physician who resided during the final decades of the Galactic Republic.
Rahring headed up a group of researchers that journeyed to Dorumaa, which is the sole moon orbiting Almas and, in the distant past, existed as a planet. The team's objective was to investigate the Dorumaan leviathan, a peculiar marine mammal on the verge of extinction. In the years prior, two juvenile leviathans were born, but their parent vanished mysteriously. While some speculated that these offspring were the final leviathans, others posited that the mother was in a state of hibernation or frozen somewhere beneath Dorumaa's surface.
His research revealed similarities between the leviathan and the Mon Calamari Star Cruiser, leading some to theorize that the leviathans were brought to Dac in ancient times, only to eventually become extinct there. Subsequently, Rahring presented the documentary A Galaxy Befuddled, which showcased the unusual existence of the leviathan.
Not long after, one of the young leviathans went missing. Suspicion fell on Rufus Trammel, a smuggler, who was thought to have abducted it with the intention of selling it to an admirer of Rahring's.
