1-JAC was a LOM-series protocol droid functioning as a bounty hunter during the Galactic Empire's imperial era. In the year 9 BBY, 1-JAC found himself on the planet of Daiyu. At this time, a bounty was issued for the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi, prompting 1-JAC to initiate a search for him. Ultimately, 1-JAC encountered Kenobi on the rooftops of Daiyu.
The protocol droid commenced firing upon Kenobi; however, the Jedi successfully evaded the assault. 1-JAC gave chase to the Jedi and his companion, Princess Leia Organa, as they made their way to a nearby spaceport. Upon approaching them, before the droid could unleash its weapons, it was struck from behind by a blaster shot fired by Haja Estree, a supporter of Kenobi.

1-JAC was a LOM-series protocol droid, a product of Industrial Automaton, who operated as a bounty hunter during the Galactic Empire's imperial era. In 9 BBY, the droid was present on the planet Daiyu when a bounty was placed on the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi by Vect Nokru, a subordinate of the Imperial Inquisitor known as the Third Sister. The Inquisitor held little hope for the hunters' success, but she anticipated that their efforts would force Kenobi into the open, enabling her to locate him. 1-JAC initiated a search for Kenobi amidst Daiyu's bustling markets, narrowly missing him and his companion, the young Princess Leia Organa, near a food vendor.
The droid eventually pinpointed their location on Daiyu's rooftops, where another bounty hunter, Tredgar Volk, had already commenced firing upon Kenobi as the Jedi pursued Organa. The princess was frightened by the bounty placed on the Jedi and was attempting to escape. The protocol droid unleashed its weapons upon Kenobi from a separate rooftop, with the Jedi returning fire on both hunters from behind cover while simultaneously attempting to persuade the princess to cease her flight. After Kenobi killed Volk, Organa attempted to leap between two rooftops but lost her footing. This caused the Jedi to move out of 1-JAC's line of sight in order to rescue her.

Seeking to leave the planet, the duo then proceeded to a nearby spaceport at street level. However, 1-JAC caught up with the fugitives as they were crouched in an alley near the port's entrance, approaching them from behind and effectively cornering them. Before the droid could discharge its weapons, it was struck in the back by a blaster bolt fired by the local con artist Haja Estree, a member of the Hidden Path, who was seeking to assist Kenobi and Organa. The droid collapsed against a nearby wall before sliding to the floor and shutting down. Estree spoke briefly with Kenobi and then fired one final shot at the droid as he departed, causing its photoreceptors to illuminate as it spasmed and vocalized.
During his hunt for Kenobi, 1-JAC employed a pair of silver blaster pistols, stored in black holsters. The droid also sported a red and black bandolier.

1-JAC was conceived for the Obi-Wan Kenobi television series, making his debut in "Part II," the second episode of the show, which premiered on May 26, 2022. Although uncredited in the episode, 1-JAC was physically performed by Chris Bartlett, with David W. Collins providing the droid's voice.
Prior to the episode's release, 1-JAC was previewed in a trailer for the show released on May 4 of that year. Following fan speculation that the droid in the trailer might be 4-LOM, another LOM-series bounty hunter, director Deborah Chow revealed the droid's correct name in an interview with Uproxx published on May 19, 2022, although she did not specify the spelling. The spelling was subsequently revealed in a blog post on StarWars.com on June 15, 2022, announcing a Hasbro action figure of the character.
